I’m Maria DiLorenzo, Intuitive Stylist + Home Editor
I’m here to help you experience the beauty and power of letting go.
I believe that clutter in our homes and unworn pieces in our closets diminish our clarity in all kinds of ways. The easiest fix? Intentionally clearing what isn’t fitting, what isn’t you, what is no longer right. This liberates you to see your space + your clothes with fresh eyes. And most of all, allows you to tap into your true essence, your true style, your true self, and your must-have essentials.
It’s amazing, right? How belongings can “suddenly” accumulate?
You peer into your wardrobe, wondering what on earth is all the way in the back.
You avoid certain closets because they’re more disorganized than you care to admit.
You look around your surfaces finding books and pieces that don’t bring you joy.
While you might love your space, all of this stuff isn’t lighting you up. Instead, it’s just there waiting to be dealt with. An overwhelming task you admittedly keep postponing.
—> “I’ll tackle that project next weekend!”
—> “I’ll weed out the old stuff and donate it soon.”
—> “I’ll organize that shelf this summer.”
Putting it off feels good in the moment, but then…
You see other people wearing fabulous outfits.
I have a closet full of clothes.
How come I can’t look that put together?
You walk into a friend’s house and automatically take a deep breath.
I wish my house could feel this peaceful.
You see a box of your mom’s things in the corner of the room.
Why can’t I just go through it already?
I so hear you. You want to get it done, feel the relief, and know that what you wear and surround yourself with
are the very things that lift your joy, your energy, your true self.
But why is it so hard?
One reason stands out to me: We all have too much in our lives.
Too many clothes.
Too many candles.
Too many unlabeled boxes in the attic.
Too many miscellaneous items in drawers and closets.
And as the “too much” collects, we see less and less of ourselves -
in clothing choices and in our homes.
Too much stuff disconnects from our essence, our truth, our preferences -
and that disconnection from self is painful and dulls the magic of life.
But I promise you it can all be different.
It is possible to achieve clarity and freedom.
You can have a wardrobe that looks fabulous and feels authentically you.
You can walk into your home and immediately smile because it feels so good.
You can sort through your mother’s things and feel fully at peace.
My intuitive clearing process helps you awaken to your life “essentials” - the everyday staples, basics, and practices you need to truly thrive.
Yes, it removes the physical clutter that blocks your joy and freedom, but more importantly, it reconnects you with YOU.
I integrate the practicality of home editing with the magic of intuitive seeing and knowing so that you can declutter what is no longer aligned, feel confident in your choices, and make room for your authentic self to show up fully in what you wear and how you move through the world.
It’s through my process that you obtain deeper alignment with self and ultimately freedom through letting go of what is no longer aligned.
Spaciousness is a quality of being that we cultivate — and it can lead us to personal transformation and freedom.
Finding My Inner Essentials
Let’s rewind to July 2010.
This story centers around the death of my father, who had been battling cancer for one year before he took a significant decline.
On a hot July afternoon, my sister called me during my shift at Nordstrom to come home ASAP. Our dad was likely to die in a matter of days, maybe even hours.
I lived in Boston at the time - my dad in Dallas where I grew up. I booked an early flight for the next morning and went home to pack.
And in that moment, I was confronted with a seemingly simple decision - what do I wear to his inevitable memorial service?
As a southern woman, there are strong traditions and social norms when it comes to funeral attire. When someone dies, you wear black. Simple enough, right?
But as I was standing in front of my closet, tearily scanning options to wear, I couldn’t help but notice this quiet but clear whisper that came from within me:
I cannot wear black.
In that moment, black symbolized something cold, harsh, and isolating. The exact opposite of how I feel about my dad. He made me feel safe. Soft. Brave.
Walking into a room (or in my case, a church) where you have to do a very hard thing takes bravery. Put on a gentle smile. Accept the condolences. Ignore your tired body. Wearing a black dress wouldn’t help me be brave.
This was the first time I really understood that clothing can be a tool for support and help me do the hard things in life. This choice was the most authentic expression of what I needed that day and became essential to owning who I really am.
This “light bulb moment” would serve as the basis of my work for years to come.
I opted to wear this gray and white silk wrap dress from Banana Republic, so nothing wildly fancy or special. But I showed up feeling a little safer, a little softer, and a little braver as I said goodbye to my dad in his physical form.
Deeply engaged with my Catholic faith most of my childhood and adult life, I’ve always been a spiritual person. Though I’ve had big sweeping ups and downs with the Catholic Church, I maintain a deep connection with God (Spirit, Universe).
I studied theology in undergraduate and graduate school, had a lengthy career in formal ministry, and guided many people through experiences of loss and grief.
On the surface, you could say I’ve led a very spiritual life. But I’m not sure I really understood the “spirit” part of spirituality. At least not until that divine whisper of guidance came in loud and clear. Spirit was always there, just waiting for me to discover my inner truth and honor what was heard.
It was then that two things absolutely clicked:
The divine whisper of guidance came from within me.
Not outside of me.
Spirit is inside me,
and I am inside Spirit.
What I really needed became explicitly clear, down to what I would wear.
My inner essentials are a holy guidepost to follow and access true freedom.
When we claim what we need or want for ourselves, whether by what we wear, keep within our homes, or how we feel, we are claiming our authentic inner essentials. It is from this space I hear the intuitive guidance most clearly. And so can you.
I guessed parental death would be transformative for me, but I didn’t see just how big that transformation could get. Turns out, it changed the whole trajectory of my life.
In the 14 years since my dad died, I’ve “listened within” to make some very big changes:
I quit a successful and lucrative career in higher education.
I worked in a corporate female-led firm, only to be inspired to start my own brand.
I bought and sold 2 homes all on my own.
I embraced who I am as an intuitive guide and way-shower.
I started a podcast to open the conversation about these changes.
I am actively blowing up my life! I’m on a relocation journey to redefine “home” and live a more vibrant lifestyle.
My inner essentials have never been more important to me than now.
Perhaps the biggest change I’ve encountered…my spiritual gifts opened up BIG time.
Like mind-blowingly big. Like what is even happening? big.
Those quiet, clear whispers were all I knew. Now, I receive messages from Spirit/Source/Universe (the name is less important to me) and from my guides. And yes, I also connect with those on the Other Side…even my dad!
I’ve always been intuitive about people, situations, and decisions. But this was an entirely new level. Like this felt magical.
By listening within, I’ve made some very clear choices for my life. Removed that which no longer aligns. Claimed what absolutely does. And this freedom feels unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before.
This is how I know I can help you, too.
